Falcon 1 finally took off a few minutes before midnight here on the east coast, and it was a very pleasing, condensation blurred, two-and-a-half minute, video spacegasm. It almost convinced the most skeptical among us that it wasn't, in fact, all pre-filmed on a sound stage somewhere in the Nevada desert. Some things that made us scratch our head: Why did the camera go all blurry only a few seconds into flight? Why was there a CGI specialist credited at the end of the webcast? Why was Sony's Phil Harrison giving us the play-by-play? Some things we may never know, but all things considered, it's safe to assume that space doesn't actually exist. It's all a big hoax to convince you that you are not trapped in a giant dome as the subject of an elaborate reality T.V. show. Just a thought...
